Are There Yellow Monarch Butterflies?
Monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus) are not yellow. Monarch butterflies are best known for their striking orange and black pattern. The orange color is bright and vivid, making them easily recognizable.

However, there are other butterfly species that can be yellow or have yellow patterns. One example is the Clouded Yellow Butterfly (Colias croceus), which is primarily yellow in color. Another is the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, which is very yellow, with tiger stripes.

If you saw a butterfly that you thought was a Monarch but was yellow, it’s likely that you saw a different species or possibly a variation due to lighting conditions.
And if you haven’t seen any regular orange Monarchs, you will want to Plant More Milkweed!
