Parthenogenesis

When an insect can reproduce asexually, giving birth to live young without mating, it is called “parthenogenesis.”

In parthenogenesis, offspring develop from unfertilized eggs. This means that all the offspring are genetically identical to the mother and are usually female. Some insects, like certain aphids, can switch between sexual and asexual reproduction depending on environmental conditions or other factors.
